Equiom Jersey supports Durrell Wildlife Park

Equiom Jersey has selected Durrell Wildlife Conservation as one of its chosen charities for 2019.

Durrell will benefit from various fundraising activities carried out by Equiom staff including bake-off competitions and a recent ‘Go Wild Day’ where staff were challenged to dress up as their favourite zoo animal. Equiom is also sponsoring its very own Gorilla in the ‘Go Wild Gorillas’ trail.

The idea to support Durrell came about as staff were in favour of the charity following a vote at the beginning of the year. Global Head of Corporate Communications, Matt Tabb explains the reasoning behind the initiative:

‘It’s a cause that clearly resonates with the Jersey team given the response we got from them to the ‘Go Wild for Durrell’ day we held at the office. Staff were decked out in animal onesies and chicken outfits, all for a good cause. With that in mind, we knew we had to support the ‘Go Wild Gorillas’ campaign. It’s a great initiative that encourages people of all ages to get out and explore our beautiful island as well as sparking an interest in wildlife and protecting our natural environment.

‘Our gorilla design, ‘The Spirit Guide’ by Marta Zubieta, fits well with our brand ethos, ‘Guiding You Forward’, which helps to explain what Equiom does for its clients, guiding them through their journey and supporting them to achieve their ambitions. Marta is a Bristol-based illustrator who has some fantastic ideas of how the final piece will look. When she visited the island, we were lucky enough to get to see the gorilla as a work in progress and to contribute ideas for the design. Marta also engaged the team in a demonstration about her work and the rationale behind her art. It was great to hear about the design and really get involved in the whole process.

‘We have a lot of additional activities planned to support our sponsorship including some fun competitions, like name the gorilla, a gorilla relay fun run and a gorilla-themed bake-off. We also plan to engage all staff by getting them to think about what ‘guiding’ means to them, in an exercise revealing who’s been their most influential guide in their career and what they have learned from them.

‘It’s set to be a really fun and interesting year to come. We look forward to the launch of ‘Go Wild Gorillas’ and all the ways in which we as a team can get involved with Durrell!’
