Equiom is a global professional services provider with more than 600 staff in 17 offices worldwide. We are a growing business with further ambitions to expand into new jurisdictions and service lines. Equiom Jersey is a team of 70 professionals with expertise in areas from real estate and crewing to private wealth advisory, and experience in dealing with high net worth clients from around the world.

At Equiom, we take great pride in developing our workforce. It is our mission to train and support people at the beginning of their career journey to ensure they get the most out of the experience as well as to guide them through the challenges and praise their triumphs along the way. Since the beginning, we’ve taken on school leavers and graduates, training them on the job and helping them to achieve professional qualifications that will give them the skills to excel in their role and develop their careers.

Here’s what they say are the best things about working at Equiom:

1. Support for professional qualifications

We truly believe that you never stop learning. With that in mind, we continuously support and encourage staff through further education and professional qualifications, such as STEP, ICSA, ACA, ACCA or anything relevant that our staff are passionate about pursuing.

2.  Attractive career paths

Our staff work in disciplines including business development, finance, crewing, human resources, compliance and risk, IT and client services. There is always room for development and infinite opportunities to learn more. We’ve seen employees seconded to overseas offices and we’ve welcomed secondees to Jersey who share their international experience with us. There are opportunities to mentor and be mentored, to be a training champion often working alongside colleagues in other Equiom businesses and to take on project roles both on and off island. Equiom empowers you to take your career in many directions.

3. Dedicated programmes for young people

At Equiom Jersey we run the ‘Introduction to Business’ programme, a scheme which supports those who are entering their very first job, giving them the skills and confidence to succeed in their new role. We nurture school leavers by offering a valuable ‘roots up’ experience and helping them to achieve appropriate professional qualifications.

4. Valuing individuality

We work to everyone’s particular strengths and abilities with the aim of training and promoting staff from within. We get to know our staff and understand their motivations to create a role that works for them and the company. Our employees are valuable and we want to ensure that everyone has a stimulating, rewarding environment to work within.

5. A charitable and social experience

It’s not all work, work, work! We have our own charity committee for organising fundraising activities for the local charities we care so much about and a separate social committee to arrange fun events. We’ve participated in various sporting events and held bake-offs, ‘go wild’ days, desk decorating competitions, Friday drinks, quiz nights, charity events and more.

Don’t take our word for it. Listen to what these staff members have to say:

Ellis Tredant, Assistant Administrator, Client Services:

I joined Equiom in August 2018 as my first job since leaving education and have been encouraged and supported to learn a wide range of new skills as I progress through the trainee development programme. There is also an active and varied social calendar at Equiom which is great to be a part of. I look forward to continuing to learn and grow within Equiom.’

Caroline Pilnick, Assistant Manager, Client Services:

‘Equiom has a very active charity committee with a primary focus on local charities which are chosen each year, by the staff. It’s great to be included in the decision of which charities to support and it gives staff a real sense of goodwill.’

James Brennan, Assistant Manager, Client Services:

‘I joined Equiom in January 2016, after its successful acquisition of Vivat Trust & Corporate Services Limited. Since then I’ve been given the opportunity and guidance to progress my career in a number of ways, most notably, in January 2018 when I was seconded to Equiom’s Hong Kong office. Having the opportunity of living and working in Hong Kong was an invaluable experience and it has shown me that it is possible to do amazing things at Equiom. I very much look forward to a long and exciting future here.’
