Top 5 reasons for choosing the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry

By Steve Cain, Yachting and Aviation Director

As many are aware, HM Treasury has just recently published its Isle of Man VAT review with the conclusion that the Isle of Man Government has correctly administered UK and EU VAT law for aircraft and yachts. This is great news for the industry and it reaffirms the Isle of Man’s position as a leading location for aircraft registration. To celebrate all of its successes, here are my top 5 reasons for choosing the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry:

  1. Its consistency in being an award-winning business jet aircraft registry, now with over 1,000 aircraft registered and 388 live registrations.
  2. Its acceptance of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) compliant engineer licenses without the requirement for any other licensing qualifications.
  3. Its pro-active and direct contact with clients. Despite being the world’s 6th largest business jet registry, the Isle of Man seeks solutions for and with its clients, unlike many registers which impose regulations for the regulated persons to resolve.
  4. Its speed and simplicity in access and filing of regulatory forms through the registry’s online computer systems
  5. Its provision of time and cost-saving solutions, such as ICAO and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) compliant operations manuals. These can be burdensome and expensive if sourced externally, but the Isle of Man Registry makes them freely available to clients.

At Equiom, we are excited by the positive news about the Isle of Man’s administration of VAT and look forward to working in partnership with the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry to continue providing exceptional solutions to aircraft owners.
