Equiom sponsors budding local cyclist
Friday 18 January 2019
Equiom has announced its sponsorship of local cyclist Ellen Barker. Support to the value of £2500 per year will be given to Ellen over the next three years towards her equipment, travel and competition entry costs.
Ellen Barker is a local road cyclist in the early stages of her career. As a member of the British women, men and junior race team, ‘Team on Form’, Ellen has competed in a number of junior races throughout the Isle of Man, UK and Ireland with some impressive results to boast. Her 2019 plans include races throughout the UK and Ireland as well as some international competitions. Her first trip will be to Belgium in March for some early season road races.
Ellen commented on the sponsorship:
‘I am so grateful to have Equiom’s support on my quest to become a professional cyclist. Living on the Isle of Man, it is quite costly to travel for races but with the help of Equiom, I will be able to get to more off-island races and this will help a great deal in my development as a rider. I would like to say a huge thank you to Equiom for supporting me as I look forward to an eventful season ahead.’
Equiom’s Global CEO, Sheila Dean added:
‘When Ellen approached us, we knew right away that this was a talented and conscientious cyclist with a strong determination to become a professional. Ellen has achieved so much already and I admire her eagerness to take her cycling to the next level. At Equiom, we are always keen to support young people in achieving their goals and take every opportunity to reward budding athletes with a strong ambition to be the best they can be. I wish Ellen every success for the upcoming season and look forward to watching her progress.’
