Assistant Accountant - Management Accounts

Due to continued expansion across the group, we are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant in our Scotland office.


Job purpose and overall objective

As part of the Management Accounting team the Assistant Accountant will be primarily involved in ensuring the delivery of high-quality management accounting services to our clients to include all aspects of the preparation, processing and production of management accounting reports.

The Assistant Accountant will be allocated a schedule of accounts work and have client responsibility. The role offers a varied workload, which must be completed to the highest standards and to strict deadlines.

Main or key responsibilities

  • Preparing and reviewing sets of management accounting reports and reconciliations 
  • Processing a variety of internal and external accounting transactions
  • Preparing accounting reconciliations and trial balances
  • Liaising with own allocation of clients 
  • Supporting junior staff in the processing of accounts in accordance with procedures
  • Training and supporting the purchase ledgers and credit control teams

Essential experience or qualifications

  • Minimum of three years' practical accounting experience
  • Ability to question the transactions and taxation and accounting rules that lie behind the numbers
  • Enthusiastic with a willingness to resolve issues and ensure technical accuracy
  • Ability to take ownership of work and be accountable to the client
